PACK 254 AT THE N.C. TRANSPORTATION MUSEUM
SPENCER, N.C.- OCT. 13TH, 2012 |
On Saturday, October 13th, Pack 254 spent the day at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina. We had an opportunity to ride a real train around the museum grounds, we were able to learn about and ride the turntable at the roundhouse and we were able to walk around real trains and climb on and inside train cars!! We saw that trains were used for things like delivering the U.S. mail, for transporting troops and they even could be outfitted to be mobile hospitals! We also had a chance to see men work on repairing trains. Finally, we were able to see some really old cars including Model T's.
There were 44 of us from Pack 254 which included 13 Scouts. To end up a great day, we had a picnic lunch. All in all, it was a great day, great experience and we had great weather. We hope that you can join us on our next "One Saturday Per Month" event as we travel to the AAF Tank Museum in Danville, Virginia on November 17th.
