Pack 254 went to Rural Hill Farm's Amazing Maize Maze on Saturday, September 21st for the September "Pack 254 Outing". Approximately 10 member of Pack 254 came out and tested their abilities to navigate out of the corn maze. It took about 2 hours for us to make it out but we had a good time trying to figure out the oversized puzzle. We also had an opportunity to learn about farming and the history of the farm and the surrounding area with the "Kernel of Knowledge" that were located in the maze. We had a great time and if you were not able to go with us, we hope you can go with us on the next "outing" in October when we go camping!

SPRING TRIP 2014 ANNOUNCEMENT: PACK 254 IS GOING BACK TO PATRIOT'S POINT!
USS YORKTOWN Charleston, South Carolina |
PACK 254 will be returning to Patriot's Point in Charleston, South Carolina for our spring trip in April 2014! Pack 254 spent two nights on the WWII era aircraft carrier, the USS Yorktown, 5 years ago and had a great time exploring the aircraft carrier, checking out its airplanes and touring the other ships and submarine at Patriot's Point. We also spent some time at Fort Sumter and learned the role Charleston had in the beginning of the Civil War. Our trip is tentatively scheduled for April 11-13th, 2014. We will be taking reservations at the beginning of the year. Cost per person is $92 which pays for two nights lodging, 4 meals, admissions to all of the ships and exhibits and the excursion to Fort Sumter. We will once again raise money for this trip through our annual Cub Scout Popcorn Sale and our annual Super Bowl BarBQue Sale with the proceeds being used to defray the cost for the boys. Be on the lookout for additional information about this trip.

PACK 254 BUILDS BIRD HOUSES TO "SALE"
Members of Pack 254 got together on Friday (May 3rd) and Saturday (May 4th) and assembled over 55 bird houses; some made of good old North Carolina white pine and some made of cedar. Approximately 15 boys came with their father, mother, grandmother or grandfather to help with this project. We not only assembled the bird houses but we painted or stained the bird houses made of white pine to help preserve them. These bird houses will be on display "for sale" for a donation on upcoming Sundays (beginning May 5th) at Bethpage United Methodist Church. A lot of hard work went into getting these bird houses ready for sale; a special thank you goes out to "Woody" Shepherd who provided the wood used and to Matthew Trick and Joshua Knight for cutting out the bird houses so the boys could assemble them. If you would like a bird house, please contact the CubMaster at djordan005@carolina.rr.com.

Pack 254 will be asking for a donation for the bird houses. If you know someone who might be interested in "purchasing" a bird house or if you know someone who would like a bird house, let us know and we will make sure you get the opportunity to pick one up. These will make a great Mother's Day or Father's Day present. Please pass this information on.
