Members of Pack 254 got together on Friday (May 3rd) and Saturday (May 4th) and assembled over 55 bird houses; some made of good old North Carolina white pine and some made of cedar. Approximately 15 boys came with their father, mother, grandmother or grandfather to help with this project. We not only assembled the bird houses but we painted or stained the bird houses made of white pine to help preserve them. These bird houses will be on display "for sale" for a donation on upcoming Sundays (beginning May 5th) at Bethpage United Methodist Church. A lot of hard work went into getting these bird houses ready for sale; a special thank you goes out to "Woody" Shepherd who provided the wood used and to Matthew Trick and Joshua Knight for cutting out the bird houses so the boys could assemble them. If you would like a bird house, please contact the CubMaster at djordan005@carolina.rr.com.

CHRISTMAS TIME AT PACK 254 = BAKING COOKIES AND CAROLING
It's become a tradition at Pack 254 every December. In anticipation of celebrating the birth of Jesus, Pack 254 gets into the Christmas spirit by baking cookies and sharing those cookies and song when we go out to a local nursing home and sing to the residents. This year was no different; Pack 254 spent Saturday, December 15th baking over 30 dozen cookies and then we loaded up the church bus and went to Big Elm Nursing Home and shared our cookies and sang Christmas carols to residents of Big Elm. We had a great time doing both and hope that we left Big Elm better than we found it. Thanks to all who came out to share their Christmas spirit.

PACK 254 PARTICIPATES IN THE KANNAPOLIS CHRISTMAS PARADE
On December 8th, 2012, Pack 254 again participated in the Kannapolis Christmas Parade. Approximately 20 Cub Scouts from Pack 254 waved at adoring fans as they rode either in the back of Matthew Trick's pickup truck or on the trailer that he pulled. All Cub Scouts wore Santa hats as we listened to Christmas music to put everyone in the spirit of the season. Thanks to everyone who helped make this a sucessful and fun time for Pack 254.
PACK 254'S ANNUAL PINEWOOD DERBY- FEBRUARY 23RD, 2013
On February 23rd, 2013, Pack 254 held its annual Pinewood Derby at Bethpage United Methodist Church. Along with the Pinewood Derby, families and friends of the participants had a chance to support Boy Scout Troop 254's annual hotdog sale which is held each year in conjunction with the Pinewood Derby. Pack 254 had a record number of cars to enter this year; 36 members of Pack 254 raced their home-made cars in the competition. Each car had its own unique quality and design and everyone had a great time.
After the competition in the double elimination tournament was over, there was one car that had beat the field; Joshua Storie (Bear) finished in first place, Harrison Shepherd (Webelos I) finished in 2nd place and Jacob Haywood (Webelos II) finished 3rd in his last Pinewood Derby. Also winning trophies were Best Design- Lachlan Jacklin (Tiger); Best Paint- Greyson Cress (Tiger); Most Original- Alex Furr (Tiger); and Best Built- Tanner Fowler (Webelos II). Every Scout who participated exemplified the core value of sportsmanship and everyone followed the Cub Scout Motto- "Do Your Best"! Great job to everyone who participated.
