PACK 254 CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS

As you should know by now, Pack 254 is truly a "Pack on the Move" and the Christmas Season did not slow us down. We began celebrating the "season" of Christmas with a canned food drive copetition between the Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Dens. After 3 weeks of intense competition, the Wolf Den won for raising the most cans per Wolf scout and they will be having a pizza party on January 3rd at Ci Ci's Pizza!! Congratulations to the Wolf Den but the whole Pack deserves recognition for collecting 297 lbs. of food which was donated to Cooperative Christian Ministries in Concord.

As the season continued after Thanksgiving, Pack 254 was again on the move as they once again designed, decorated and entered a float in the Kannapolis Christmas Parade. Every Den participated in the decoration of the float and they received cheers and applause as they travelled along the parade route on December 11th. Great Job!!!

On December 18th, Pack 254 had the 3rd Annual Cookie Bake at Bethpage UMC. Cub Scouts came early to begin baking cookies that were placed in cookie tins to be handed out when Pack 254 went caroling on December 20th. The cookie bake was a great sucess with Pack 254 baking and decorating what was estimated to be over 30 dozen cookies!! After we finished the baking and decorating, we had a hotdog lunch and then the scouts had an chance to fill up their own cookie "sack" to take home.

Finally, we took our show (and cookies) on the road as over 40 Cub Scouts and their parents visited Miss Nagy, Mr. Robert (aka Santa), Ms. Phipps, Mr. Henderson (Mrs. Henderson was sick), Mr. and Mrs. Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Fesperman. We sang great Christmas songs like "Away in a Manger", "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells". We always finished off strong with "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". We capped the night off with a trip back to the Scout room where we ate the rest of the cookies and drank hot chocolate. We would like to thank Mr. Lee for driving us.
As you can see, we have been busy. But if you think we are finished, "you ain't seen nothing yet!!!!"

PACK 254 GOES CAMPING IN HILLSVILLE, VIRGINIA!!

On Saturday, October 16th, members of Pack 254, along with their parents and brothers and sisters took a trip to the mountains of Virginia for an overnight camping trip in Hillsville, Virginia. As you can see from the pictures, the boys had a good time hiking, doing scavenger hunts, playing games, picking apples, cooking over the campfire, eating S'mores and just having fun with their families and friends. If you didn't get a chance to go in October, look for another opportunity in the Spring!

PACK 254 CANNED FOOD DRIVE COMPETITION!!

It has become a tradition for Pack 254 to have a canned food drive this time of year and to have a friendly competition between the Dens. Starting Monday, November 8th and for the next two weeks thereafter (November 16th and 22nd), members of Pack 254 are asked to bring in canned goods to their den meetings. Their Den Leaders will then tally up the number of cans and will give them to the CubMaster. On November 22nd, the CubMaster will add up the number of cans collected during the three weeks of competition and divide the number by the total number of scouts in the den. The den with the highest number of cans per scout will win a pizza party at CiCi's Pizza!!! All canned goods will be presented to Cooperative Christian Ministries before the Thankgiving holiday. While this is a great way to help the community, it may also satisfy an achievement or elective in your handbook. Let's have some fun and see how many cans we can collect for people who need help during the holiday season.

PACK 254 GOES TO THE CAROLINA RAPTOR CENTER

On September 25th, 14 Cub Scouts and approximately 20 parents and siblings from Pack 254 went to the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville to learn about raptors, which we found is another word for eagles, owls, hawks and other birds of prey. The Scouts went on a scavenger hunt while at the Center, looking for answers to questons about the different raptors and they received a patch from the Carolina Raptor Center for their participation. They also got an up close visit with a bald eagle and red tail hawk during a program put on by volunteers of the Center. Here are some pictures of the fun!
